She was originally built for renowned children's book author Robert McCuskey. In 1992 she was given back to the builder as Mr. McCluskey was unable to continue boating. Frank Day Jr. subsequently stripped her from the rails up, replacing deck beams, decks, pilothouse, trunk cabin and sistered several frames. During this time as well, Frank Day Jr. used her very lightly in the Brooklin, Maine area, and she was photographed extensively and appeared in the Wooden Boat calendar and later in the 'Guide to Wooden Power Boats' by Benjamin Mendlowitz and Maynard Bray.
She has been extensively refit by her current owner over the last 5 years at Crocker's Boatyard and Manchester Marine in Manchester MA including complete engine and drive-train replacement/refurbishment, replacement as required of gunwales, toerails and cabin trim, completely new solenoid switched dual battery electrical system and wiring and complete refinish inside and out.
Detailed work orders, invoices and survey are available. |
